Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
